Trips: Teton Fall 2013

I finally made it to the Tetons for its peak fall colors. But a few days of early snow and strong winds made the shooting a real challenge. Fall foliage was battered in many places of the park but there were a few exceptions, including especially Oxbow Bend. On October 1, the day the government shut down, the winds stopped and the clouds parted for about an hour just before sunrise, revealing the Mount Moran and the Teton Range covered in fresh snow as the aspens peaked. It was a perfect morning - until the government forced everyone out of the Park.

Autumn on the Oxbow after an Early Snow

For days the Tetons were cloaked in heavy clouds as the aspen turned golden. At last, the storms cleared one morning, but there was little time to photograph: the Government had shut down in the morning. Everyone was ordered out of OUR national Parks. Fortunately, they gave us a couple of hours and one of the great scenes in the world could be experienced in its stunning splendor with fresh snow and golden aspens. Photo © copyright by Ed Fuhr.
