Pinnacles Overlook in Autumn Splendor   Shenandoah National Park

One of my favorite vistas in Shenandoah National Park because your eye does not simply slide down the mountain like fall's colors to an open expanse of flatlands to be gone forever, only checked if looking west by distant ridge lines far, far away. No, here there is at least at this time, a sense that life's cycle is held in check by strong majestic mountains that ensure that no ordinary force can sweep things away, that everything is contained, even as fall's majestic robe of colors appears at last on the highest ridge.
