Denali National Park

In the fall, grizzly bears enter a hyperphagia phase, a time when they eat incessantly as they prepare for the months ahead when they will hibernate and eat nothing. It is a vital time, and these Denali mountainsides are the perfect place to feast, with miles of blueberries, rodents, tubers and occasionally bigger game. The Denali road, closed to vehicles, passes through much of this landscape and is a place to witness these great spirits of the wilderness in their home, but carefully and respectfully, at distance, using very long lenses.
