Rebirth

Grand Teton National Park

A hike through a remote burned forest on an old dirt road is a meditation in silence and solitude, of life and death. Acres and acres of dead trees creak in the wind, their black scars softened but not cured by June's surprise snow. An elk is startled by my presence and races out of sight; And, below, out of yesterday's ashes and into today's snowy brace, there is rebirth. Photo © copyright by Ed Fuhr.
