Jellyfish Smack

Kenai National Park

A "jellyfish smack" in Kenai Fjords is a large cluster of jellyfish, typically moon jellyfish, that gather together due to ocean currents, food availability, and warmer temperatures. These gatherings can form a dazzling, glowing "smack" in the water, and are a common natural phenomenon in the area during the summer. Photo © copyright by Ed Fuhr.
